Indian gooseberry, commonly known as Amla, truly deserves its superfood status. The translucent green fruit which is sour and astringent in taste with sweet, bitter and pungent secondary tastes. Amla derives its name from the Sanskrit word 'Amlaki' meaning “nectar of life”. Amla can be consumed in various forms; it could be eaten fresh, powdered or juiced. Some people use this translucent fruit to make pickles, candies, chutneys and other condiments. In India, it’s used in the preparation of various curries and rice.
Storage:
Place the fresh fruit in a ziplock bag or other sealed bag, and store it in the refrigerator.
